Belive it or not, this is the north fork of Lone Pine Creek where the MR starts. Could hear small avalanches every 10 minutes off the cliffs here.

View from camp. I stepped out of my snow shoes in to waste deep snow and couldn't even pull myself uphill with an ice axe. haha

I found the creek flowing under the snow... after falling through. Note to self, bigger snow snow shoes with when carrying 50lbs of gear.

Home for night two. I learned how to set stakes in the snow from a book (thanks Todd!) and then went off to throw myself down a hill to practice self arresting and snow caving.

Brrrr. Made it up to LBSL early the next morning leaving all gear behind but the snow shoes and ice axe. Walked out a day early... needed MSR snow shoes to cary that much gear, on that steap of terrain in that much snow. Will try again in a few months, not solo.
